Ensuring Sun City West Has a Seat at the Table
The proposed 155th Avenue and Loop 303 interchange is one of the most significant transportation projects affecting Sun City West in recent years. Recognizing the long-term impact this project could have on traffic, neighborhood access, noise, safety, and future development, PORA has taken a proactive leadership role in representing the interests of our residents.
PORA believes major infrastructure projects should be developed with meaningful community participation—not after decisions have already been made. Our mission is to ensure the voices of Sun City West residents are heard throughout every stage of the planning and mediation process.
Bringing ADOT and the Community Together
To promote transparency and open communication, PORA has organized community forums that brought together:
- Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) representatives
- Maricopa County officials
- Community leaders
- Sun City West residents
- Neighboring stakeholders
These forums provided residents with the opportunity to ask questions, understand project alternatives, express concerns, and offer constructive feedback directly to project officials.
Advocating During Mediation
PORA continues to participate in discussions surrounding the interchange by:
- Advocating for greater transparency throughout the planning process
- Ensuring resident concerns are communicated during mediation efforts
- Supporting solutions that improve regional mobility while protecting Sun City West’s quality of life
- Encouraging continued collaboration between ADOT, local governments, and the community
